Heston Blue Chip took the lead, with A Rocknroll Dance in second and Michaels Power in third. Heston Blue Chip took them by the quarter in :27.1. Michaels Power came first over from third and rolled quickly to the top at the half in :55 (:27.4). Into the far turn, Michaels Power held command, with Heston Blue Chip in second and Dapper Dude pacing into third, first over. Michaels Power was holding on at three-quarters in 1:23.1 (:28.1). Down the stretch, Michaels Power still had the lead but Heston Blue Chip was fidgeting behind, looking for room. Meanwhile, Sweet Lou and Mel Mara came off cover and charged after the leader. Heston Blue Chip found a seam and closed in on Michaels Power to get up in time and win in 1:50.3 (:27.2). Mel Mara was second, Sweet Lou was third, Michaels Power was fourth and Dapper Dude finished fifth.
