Southwind Frank wins Earl Beal, Jr. Final

Sent off the 1-5 favorite, Southwind Frank (H-Muscle Hill) rebounded off a loss in the Earl Beal Jr. Memorial elimination to win the $500,000 final in 1:52.4 over Trolley (H-Donato Hanover), and Bar Hopping (H-Muscle Hill) on Saturday, July 2 at Pocono Downs.

Southwind Frank, paying $2.40 to win, is owned by Southwind Frank Partners, trained by Ron Burke, and driven by Yannick Gingras. The $75,000 Earl Beal Jr. Memorial Consolation was also on the program at Pocono and Milligan’s School (H-Yankee Glide) trotted down tempo-setter Jimmy William (H-Cantab Hall) to win in 1:53.2 over Love Matters (H-Explosive Matter) and Iron Mine Bucky (H-Explosive Matter).

Owned by Stroy Inc., Milligan’s School is trained by Julie Miller and driven by Andy Miller. He paid $21.80 to win. Harrah’s Philadelphia hosted three divisions of the $160,223 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes (PASS) for filly trotters on Thursday, June 30.

Hot Curry swung to the lead after pulling first over in the final turn to win the first PASS split in 1:56.1 over Sunset Glider (H-Cantab Hall) and Pink Pistol.

Owned by Burke Racing Stables, Crawford Farms, Weaver Bruscemi, and Lawrence Karr, trained by Ron Burke and driven by Tim Tetrick, Hot Curry paid $13.00.

Womans Will (H-Donato Hanover) slipped by pacesetter Broadway Donna (H-Donato Hanover) to take the second PASS division in 1:54.3. Kathy Parker (H-Andover Hall) finished third. Womans Will, an $11.00 winner, is owned by Al Libfeld and Marvin Katz, trained by Julie Miller, and driven by Marcus Miller.

Shooting to the lead from second over, Double Exposure (H-Donato Hanover) won the third PASS split in 1:55.4 over Miss Tezsla (H-Andover Hall) and Ultimate Shopper (H-Yankee Glide). Double Exposure is owned by Brittany Farms and Melvin Hartman, trained by Tony Alagna, and driven by Tim Tetrick. She paid $5.20. Hambo hopefuls also contested in the $77,380 Tompkins-Geers colt trot and $55,380 Tompkins-Geers filly trot at Tioga Downs on Friday, July 1.

Dominion Beach (H-Muscle Hill) and Hititoutofthepark (H-Yankee Glide) won the colt splits from off the pace in 1:54.2 and 1:55.2 respectively. Dominion Beach, paying $80.00 to win, is owned by Courant A B, trained by Nancy Johansson, and driven by Marcus Johansson. Hititoutofthepark, paying $3.10, is owned by Give It A Shot Stable, Kurt Welling, and VIP Internet Stable, trained by John Butenschoen, and driven by Mike Simons.

Goosebump Hanover (H-Rc Royalty) and Celebrity Eventsy (H-Manofmanymissions) won the filly divisions in 1:55.2 and 1:54.4 respectively. Goosebump Hanover, returning $5.60, is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Jerry and Theresa Silva Stables, Crawford Farms, and Joseph Di Scala Jr., trained by Ron Burke, and driven by Jim Morrill Jr. Celebrity Eventsy, paying $2.30, is owned by Celebrity Farms, trained by Staffan Lind, and driven by John Campbell.
