May 15, 2012~Sustaining Payments for Freshmen
& Yearling Nominations Due.
Sustaining payments for all 2-year-old races AND yearling nominations for all events administered by the Hambletonian Society are due Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

Please note the Keystone Classic for 2-year-olds also requires a final May 15 $400 sustaining payment to remain eligible to the pacing and trotting events of 2012. This payment was not listed on the Hambletonian Society May 15 ad page in industry publications.


All payments must be postmarked by midnight, May 16 per USTA rule.

May 5, 2012~Not Afraid wins Dexter Cup by slim margin
Not Afraid (H-SJ’s Caviar) kept control late to win the $138,300 Dexter Cup at Freehold Raceway as driver Ron Pierce barely shook off the charge from. Frost Bites K (H-Broadway Hall) with David Miller. On The Podium was third.  Not Afraid was one of the top two choices in the Hambletonian Trail preview. He returned $17.00 to win. Undefeated Market Share (H) took seven other trotters around Freehold’s half-mile oval to win the $46,100 Dexter Cup elimination by a two-length margin in 1:57.1h. Trouble was second, Not Afraid (H) was third and On The Podium was fourth. To read the rest of this story CLICK HERE

Dan Patch freshman trotting colt Possess The Will tops a list of 108 trotting colts eligible to the 87th Hambletonian, the richest and most prestigious event in harness racing. Possess The Will, from the first crop of 2007 Hambletonian winner Donato Hanover, is owned by Jules Siegel’s Fashion Farm and trained by Jim Campbell. The colt annexed divisional honors with seven wins in 12 starts and earnings of $550,789.

The $1.7 million Hambletonian and the filly companion stakes, the $850,000 Hambletonian Oaks, will be raced on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 4, at the New Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford, New Jersey. Eliminations, if necessary, will be raced Saturday, July 28.
